World Mental Health Day

It’s World Mental Health Day on the 10th October!

2019 has a focus on Suicide Prevention, which we covered in one of our radio shows with MKFM which you can listen back to here you can also find a guide to suicide on our Support Guides Page.

For World Mental Health Day this year, we are focusing on our crowdfunding for Children’s Mental Health!1 to 1

We are really excited because some GP Surgeries in Milton Keynes are helping us by running Bake Sales to support this cause! Both Bedford Street Surgery in Bletchley and Furzton Medical Centre will be selling delicious cakes from 8am – 3pm on October 10th to contribute to the children’s sessions our team of Mentors run. So pop down and grab a cake!

Arthur Ellis trains people in businesses, schools, colleges and other organisations to become #IndependentFromIllness. Our aim is to change how people see mental health but to also provide practical tools for people to recover directly so we become more self-sufficient in addressing these issues.

Due to referrals going up at such a rate with more and more children, young people, and adults needing support, there are long waiting lists and high thresholds to even access support. So, nationally, we see that approximately 75% of children referred are unable to be seen.

Arthur Ellis runs a Mentoring service for children from the age of 8 years old to access support from our team of experienced, qualified Mentors if they are unable to elsewhere. Our training and products pay for these sessions. For example; One day of training with a company doesn’t just train their staff to become #IndependentFromIllness but it also puts a child through 8 meaningful sessions with a Mentor.

Adults who refer to our Mentoring service pay for their sessions and that also covers the costs for us to support a child. So if you are experiencing difficulties, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

We aim to establish a free mental health service for children and young people by providing these products and services, without the need to rely on funding.

Saying that…for us to get this started, we do need some extra help. This is why we started Crowdfunding, which is what the Bake Sales will be going towards.
